Gotham Cigars is one of the older online cigar stores, and over the years they have managed to carve a reputation for themselves as offering some of the best service in the market. From my test, they certainly were the fastest to reply (within 19 minutes they answered my email) and at the same time they managed to provide a quality response, not just a quick auto reply.

The site however is nothing special. In fact, the first thing I thought of when I looked at the site is ‘where do I go from here?’… the home pages is really crowded and can seem a bit daunting. However once we get into the categories, it is evident that Gotham Cigars has a great selection of premium, hand rolled cigars.  They carry most of the larger brands, but also some pretty special, hard to get sticks. Noteworthy is the fact that they carry Isla del Sol, Cuesta del Rey and Chateau Real cigars.

In terms of prices, Gotham Cigar Shop is extremely competitive. Almost all of their major brands have a similar price to the market leaders; Famous Smoke Shop and BnB Tobacco. They don’t have as many promotions as Famous, which can be nice sometimes, since I will never purchase from a place like Famous without a promotion, since they have them so often.

If you are into lower quality, cheap cigars they have you covered too. They have a large selection of machine made cigars for those who prefer a more financially conscious smoke. The prices for their cheap cigars are ok, but for the most part, I found lower prices at BnB Tobacco.

One thing I really like about Gotham Cigars is the fact that they have a listing of the cigars that were best rated by Cigar Aficionado. Now don’t get me wrong, I don’t agree with every review that those people put out, but in general, if they rate something 90+, it is going to be an at least decent smoke.

If you are the type of person that prefers to save on regular cigarettes and buy ‘filtered cigars’ instead, these guys have a really great selection, with prices being as low as $2/pack.
